Recently signed to Drover Music to record his debut album, Donnie
Soper continues his success in the spotlight.
He’s a theatre director, professional actor, musician, songwriter,
and genuine showman; and when Donnie takes to the stage his presence
captivates his audience and transforms their world for a moment in
time.
With country music flowing through his veins Donnie was born into a
family of song, and his father Ian “Joey” Soper would be proud to
know Donnie has upheld the family tradition with such triumph. From
entertaining thousands at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre to
sharing his songs in the more intimate setting of Poley’s Place on
the Barrington, it’s Donnie’s rich vocal and strong musicianship
that entices his audience and invites them to sing along with smiles
on their faces and enjoy his entertaining and sincere performance.
If you’ve been one of
the millions of people who have experienced an evening of fun and
festivities with the Medieval Old English themed theatre restaurant
Dirty Dick’s, you may recognise Donnie as one of the star characters
‘Tige’. In his 11 years touring the country as part of their core
crew Donnie participated in more than 200 performances, and had the
opportunity to showcase his skills as a singer, musician, comedian
and actor.
Donnie’s skills as an actor were earlier polished and perfected with
The Maitland Gilbert & Sullivan Musical Society, and he starred in
many musicals including PATIENCE, THE MUSIC MAN, HELLO DOLLY &
YEOMAN OF THE GUARD. He also went on to direct their very successful
productions of THE HOT MIKADO, OKLAHOMA and GREASE.
Donnie released his debut album 'Fly Like A Bird' on the Drover
Music Label in May 2012. Produced by renowned Tamworth identity
Steve Newton at Enrec Studios, Donnie's album is a great selection
of country favourites and self penned songs. |
